Idaho Too Much for Women's Tennis

Sophomore Stephanie Shelton (Douglas, AZ)

The Mustangs opened up their season Saturday evening versus the University of Idaho in Las Cruces, New Mexico. With the University of Idaho having eight matches already under their belt this season, the Mustangs had a challenged versus the more polished squad, falling 7-0.

"The ladies worked hard in the match and gained really good experience at the NCAA Division I level. This was their first match as a team against a DI school this season, so that in itself was an accomplishment. We put forth a great effort," says head coach Erik Burton.

In singles matches, sophomore Stephanie Shelton (Douglas, AZ/Douglas High School) (Douglas, AZ) gave Idaho's Natalie Kirch a fight. “It was a slugfest,” says assistant coach Angel Vos. “That was the best match.” Shelton dropped the match in the end, 6-4, 6-0.
